Tell The Truth!

This time the accusation has been made that additional bonus payments were made to players.

The accusation has come about after ex-player, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, suggested in his recent autobiography that Roman Abramovich doubled the bonus payment after the Champions League victory against Arsenal.

If you read between the lines, it would seem that the disgraced Adrian Mutu was the chief instigator in supposedly suggesting to Mr Abramovich, in the dressing room after the historic win, that the £50,000 bonus be doubled. This is in fact in clear breach of the current rules which stipulate that all bonus payments must be agreed at the start of the campaign.

Thankfully, Chelsea Football Club have vehemently denied these claims and have openly requested that their accounts relating to the matter are looked into. Indeed, a highly respected journalist, on Sky TV this Sunday, indicated that he has every reason to believe that Chelsea have committed no crime.

The journalist went on to point out that he has had discussions with a very well respected figure at Chelsea, who he trusts implicitly, and that the figure of £50,000 is in itself flawed. To suggest that it was doubled to £100,000 per player is ridiculous. Indeed, we?re led to believe that the actual bonus payment for that historic fixture was in fact in the region of £17,000.

Once again it would seem that Chelsea Football Club are, due to their own success, being put on the proverbial pedestal ready to be knocked down. Whilst accepting that Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was a fine servant to Chelsea Football Club, I?m sure I?m not alone in suggesting that of the accusations are not proven then Jimmy himself should become the target of an FA enquiry.
