The sickening yelp of pain, let out by John Terry after the accidental clash with Luis Suarez, was an immediate indication of just how bad the apparent injury was.

JT, as we`re all aware, isn`t one to feign injury and the scenes as he writhed around in agony, had all Chelsea supporters fearing the worst.

As I write, there is still no indication of how bad the injury is but the possibility exists that JT, who left the ground on crutches and with his knee in a brace, could be out for a long time.

Speaking after the 1-1 draw with Liverpool, Roberto Di Matteo had the following for the media,

“Obviously we are worried about John and we hope it is not serious.”

“It`s always a concern when a player reacts like that. He`s in pain right now and will go to hospital in the morning.”

“We won`t know the full extent of the damage until we have the results of the scan but we hope it`s not long-term.”

“We had just got John back into the team. It`s a real shame.”

Indeed it is, and if JT is out for a lengthy period it will be to the detriment of our chances of success this season.
