I guess it happens to everyone at some time during their career.

Even the biggest names in football make errors, I mean we`ll all never forget Steven Gerrad`s slip that let Demba Ba race away, at Anfield, thereby depriving Liverpool of their first ever Premier League title, will we.

Therefore, whilst accepting that Baba Rahman`s error yesterday was directly responsible for Shane Long scoring the opening goal for Southampton, perhaps we shouldn`t be too critical of the young full-back and let the defender we signed from Augsburg last summer, get over in in his own way.

It`s clear that Baba fully acknowledged his error and by via the words of Guus Hiddink, it`s clear he was visibly upset by it with our Dutch boss informing the media afterwards that the error was the reason why he was taken off at half-time, commenting to the media,

‘I don’t want to make a fake injury. I took him off because of the error. He has to cope with that. He was very down in the locker room about his mistake, but we have to make decisions like we did.’

Indeed we do and Baba may be left to reflect that his error let in another youngster, Kenedy, who proceeded to look very accomplished on that left side of the pitch.
