The Bernabeu Beckons For A Prominent Member Of The Chelsea Staff

|

Antonio Conte may, still, be the head coach of Chelsea Football Club but it wouldn’t surprise anyone if the Italian were to be axed in the coming days.

As we’ve reported on many an occasion, the friction between Conte and the Chelsea board points towards a departure being inevitable, even more so with talk prominent of Laurent Blanc being the favourite to lead the team next season, Click Here.

But, it appears that if the axe does fall then Conte might not be out of work for long.

According to the new source, the Daily Mail, the Italian is wanted, by Real Madrid, to replace the departed Zinedine Zidane.

Conte has shot to the top of the Real Madrid wish-list after the Juventus manager, Massimiliano Allegri, turned down the chance of a move to the Bernabeu.

For Conte, it is an unbelievable chance to leave the Chelsea job with his head held high knowing that in his two seasons with Chelsea he delivered a Premier League title and the FA Cup.

The Italian will be tasked with continuing Real Madrid’s fine run, in the Champions League, a run that has seen them win it in each of the last three seasons, whilst also attempting to overhaul a Barcelona side that were dominant in La Liga last season.

The only obstacle we can see in his path to the Real Madrid post is whether he decides, after insisting he is committed to Chelsea, to leave his current post or wait for the axe to fall.

But, in what could turn into a game of poker, Chelsea may wait for Conte to jump, thereby saving on a compensation payment, instead of pushing him.

Either way, it could be a tense couple of weeks we’re about to witness.
