The Better One

Chelsea have, twice, had the ‘Special One’ but do the Blues now have the ‘Better One’ at Stamford Bridge?

Ok, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola didn’t exactly say that about Antonio Conte but the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich chief said the Italian ‘may be the best’ in the game.

Guardiola, like Conte is in his debut season in the Premier League, has always been impressed by the way the Italian has managed to get his teams to play football – especially at Juventus and the Italian national side where he went against the grain of a natural defensive game.

Heading into the Stamford Bridge showdown Guardiola was quoted by the BBC as saying this of Conte.

‘My opinion about my colleague Conte is that he’s superb. He was able to make Italy play beautiful football – Juventus too – in a culture where it’s so defensive.’

The Catalan went on to confess he’s managed to learn a lot from the best in the game.

‘He’s an excellent manager, I learn a lot when I see his teams – Juventus, Italy and now. I like to do that because you see what they want to do. Their teams control a lot of aspects. Maybe he’s the best.’

Always nice to get some praise isn’t it, now for Chelsea to get three points from Man City too!
