The Grass Is Greener On A Different Planet According To A Forgotten Chelsea Midfielder

|

Sometimes, after itching for a move, it turns out, as us Brits say, the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.

However, it seems that with regards to our French midfielder, Tiemoue Bakayoko, it certainly is.

After a torrid start to his season-long loan spell with AC Milan, the 24-year-old is now reproducing the kind of form that saw Chelsea spend extravagantly on the player.

But, our opinion is that, following the decision to send the player out on loan, we’d be very surprised if he were to resume his Chelsea career, following the meltdown season he had with us back in 2017 / 2018.

To that effect, it’s pleasing to read, courtesy of the media vehicle, Football London that Bakayoko likes life so much in Milan that he wants his loan spell to be made a permanent one, being quoted by a French news source, Nice Matin, as having remarked:

“Things are going well for the club and I right now.

“There wasn’t a turning point. I just wanted to show that I was good enough for a big club. Milan are on a different planet.”

If that is the case and all parties are in agreement, all that remains to be sorted, from Chelsea’s side, is an appropriate fee for the transfer.

I can’t help feeling that Bakayoko is something of an enigma, during his early days with the club he looked to be the answer to our prayers, especially when he bossed the midfield, at Wembley, against Tottenham Hotspur in a Premier League game, quite why it went so wrong for him remains to be seen.

But, then again, I suppose we can always look forward to the rumours that are bound to pop-up, in the future, relating to Chelsea possibly resigning the player.
