Last night, courtesy of the 2-0 win over Galatasaray, with Chelsea winning the tie 3-1 on aggregate, we reached the Quarter-Finals stage of the competition for the 8th time in eleven years.

For Jose, the victory meant that he`s reached the quarter-final stage of the competition for the fifth season on the trot and Jose has an enviable record of never having lost a Champions League quarter-final yet.

But, before we start counting our chickens and contemplating a semi-final place, Jose had a few things to say about the clubs status, its ambition, the game last night and what might lie ahead.

Take it away Jose,

“For Chelsea to come from the Europa League to the quarter final of the Champions League is important for the players and the club. We are a club for the Champions League and now we are in the best eight of the best teams in the world.”

“We are there and the players deserve to be.”

“This was a difficult tie where people think we have to do it – but the reality Is not like that.”

“Galatasaray is a big club with a lot of experienced players.”

“Now all the big candidates to win the competition are there.”

“It would be very good for our evolution as a team, and very important for us to play one of the best. We wait for the draw. It doesn`t matter who.”

“It was a very good performance, very solid, very compact, no fears. A very good approach to the game because 1-1 from the first leg is a difficult result.”

“The team was solid, very confident and very much in control for the 90 minutes which is difficult for the whole game.”

The old saying about there being no easy teams left in the competition springs to mind at the moment, but given a choice who would the Vital Chelsea fraternity prefer to play in the last eight?
