Chelsea fans have had a decent season under legend Frank Lampard in his first season back at Stamford Bridge in the dugout and despite the unexpected Coronavirus pause to the football calendar, Frankie has us sat in third place at this moment in time and with the games left, it remains possible that we might nick that second spot.

Our form since football returned has been good and promising – and we can ignore the defeat to West Ham United – so we seem well placed to hit the 2020/21 campaign running with some good momentum.

For many fans, with betting being impossible during the lull, plenty would’ve dabbled with casino games to while away the time, especially for those sat at home and unable to work, but as life more returns to normal now for those who enjoyed that challenge, it will no doubt continue to be a form of entertainment for them, even though having a flutter or two on Chelsea’s results has returned as an option.

As for what the new season will bring, there’s plenty of things that remain to be decided. How much of a mini-break will the players get, will transfer spending be impacted by the three months off and the lack of fans in a stadium (when will fans be allowed to return) and there are definitely two contentious points to address.

Can be the Video Assistant Referee technology be fixed instead of constantly causing uproar?

Will we get rid of those utterly annoying and pointless ‘tactical’ drinks breaks?

Frankie has already made his thoughts clear stating:

“I think he (Chris Wilder) does have a point. I think they were brought in with the right intention. But I can’t see it going any further than that, I don’t think anyone would want that.”

For now though, we simply look to finish the current campaign with the best form we can and then we see what we have planned for next year. A third placed finish in Lampard’s first season in charge definitely whets the appetite for the coming season, but if we can continue our form and we see Manchester City slip up a couple of more times, second place isn’t out of our reach yet and would be a remarkable return for our former midfielder.

You can watch Chelsea in the FA Cup via this great Chelsea Live TV page. As well as live FA Cup tv channel options and fixtures there is all the info on where to watch football from broadcasters such as Sky Sports, BT Sport, Amazon Prime, BBC, ITV Sport and more.

Particularly when you factor in the lack of strengthening owing to our transfer ban and no strengthening over the summer or in January, but of greater benefit maybe when we look further down the line, is the performances of our Academy graduates and younger players who have seized their chance to impress.

It can only bode well for the future.
