The Wheels Of Change Are Slowly Starting To Turn At Stamford Bridge

|

Earlier this week here at Vital Chelsea, we reported on how one news source, Click Here, was suggesting that this week could see the managerial conundrum solved at Stamford Bridge.

Today, speculation is increasing that a change in the managerial hot-seat is indeed nigh.

The good folk of Sky Sports, are reporting that Maurizio Sarri’s agent has arrived in London, to assist in closing a deal that would see the 59-year-old Italian takeover from Antonio Conte.

Furthermore, another news source, the Telegraph, is insinuating that Sarri has made the Belgian international forward, Dries Martens, his top target.

Martens played under Sarri, at Napoli, last season where he scored 22 goals.

If that deal were to come off, Chelsea, next season, could possibly play with an all-Belgian front three of Hazard, Batshuayi and Martens.

Continuing on the managerial theme, the Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola, who graced our first team from 1996 to 2003, has admitted that talks have been held about an emotional return as Sarri’s assistant, with the news source, the Sun, carrying some quotes attributed to the Sardinian, quotes which read:

“There are a lot of rumours about me at the moment and nothing has happened. We’ll see what happens in the future.

“But honestly, at the moment it’s only talking, nothing is decided.”

However, despite the fluster of journalistic activity we’ve covered above, we’ll just sit tight and wait for confirmation from the club.

But, we have to say, the mention of Dries Martens being a target is something we find interesting, his goal return in Italian football is more than respectable and he could add something to our squad.

Whether the deal happens or not remains to be seen.
