I would say this is a new era in the history of this club because I believe the last time we were as excited as this was when we signed a certain Jose Mourinho.

Seven good years later, after achieving almost the same success as the Special One, we have gone back to Porto to sign what would be our seventh manager during the Abramovich era.

As much as I hope this would be the breakthrough we all hope for, I believe it’s going to be a different ball game in the Premier League compared to life in Portugal.

Porto were very good last season no doubt but with all their flair, I would bet against them making the top four in the Premier League (no disrespect though).

No manager can work at Chelsea without being under immense pressure from Roman. Considering his age, it would be very hard for our new manager to control the dressing-room considering what the players did to Scolari.

But when you consider his influence and decisions in the last couple of days, I think we are on the right path. If we consider the amount paid to secure his services, I think Roman has a surprise for us all.

I think if he’s not over-ambitious like Jose, we could be looking at a long-time appointment. I just hope Roman gives him a free hand and the time he needs to make us as fearsome and committed as we were during Jose’s reign.

Up the Blues!
