With the Financial Fair Play regime set to fully kick off, it seems a summer of fire sales is almost upon us as UEFA clubs [barring Manchester United apparently] look to balance the books and avoid sanctions, and it is no different in Bayern Munich with the Bundesliga club reported to be willing to sell a good portion of their star-studded lineup not excluding stars like Croatian, Mario Mandzukic; Dutchman, Arjen Robben; and German internationals, Thomas Muller and Toni Kroos.

Recently Chelsea have been variously mentioned in the same sentence as Mandzukic and Kroos?two players who could considerably address some of our more dire needs?and now it would seem any hopes we had of stealing a match on the broken United for the signature of the latter would be dashed if the inference as peddled by the Daily Express is anything to go by, as according to the tabloid the Red Devils and Die Roten have agreed a deal for the 24-year-old midfielder, with the “principles of an agreement” now in place.

Although the player is yet to put pen to paper, amid concerns over United’s inability to provide Champions League football next term, van Gaal’s connection with FC Hollywood is a massive plus, and with a deal for Chelsea fan and [former] target Luke Shaw all but secured, that would be one more ‘target’ lost to the Mancs though whether Mourinho was ever interested in Kroos in the first place or would do van Gaal, his former boss a ‘Willian’ remains to be seen.

So does this news break your heart, enough that you’d have us gazump the Mancs if possible or perhaps you know better options we should go for?

Who do you want as Nemanja Matic’s partner next term?
