This Sunday afternoon, after the rigours of travelling back and forth to Belarus for a Europa League fixture against BATE Borisov, Chelsea welcome Everton to Stamford Bridge for a Premier League fixture.
Chelsea are one of three teams that remain unbeaten in the Premier League, the other two being Liverpool and Manchester City and Maurizio Sarri will be looking to keep that unbeaten run going with a victory against an Everton side who sit in mid-table.
However, the boss may well be concerned about the level of performance his side gave in Belarus where they lacked cohesion and only took the victory courtesy of the woodwork saving them on three separate occasions.
True, the defence, as in the Carabao Cup game against Derby County, had been changed dramatically, but Chelsea still looked off the boil when it came to getting forward and creating chances.
However, the blip in form, on Thursday night, hasn’t affected the opinion of one television pundit, Mark Lawrenson, who, in his weekly prediction column in the BBC, has gone for a Chelsea win with Lawrenson remarking:
“Everton got a good win against Brighton last week and played really well too.
“But scoring goals against the Seagulls at home is completely different to doing it at Stamford Bridge and it is hard to see past a Chelsea win here.
“There is still a question mark over Blues striker Alvaro Morata, despite his goals against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
“It was a good day for Morata, but he has had plenty of bad days too, and he needs to repeat that kind of form in the next 10 games to prove himself.
“The good news for Chelsea is that they know they can always rely on Eden Hazard to get them out of trouble if they need it.”
In summarizing, Lawrenson predicts a 2-0 win for Chelsea, here’s hoping that the former Liverpool central defender has gauged this one correctly.
For the record books, I reckon Chelsea will win 3-1, how about you?
