The pressure is on Chelsea to wrap up a deal for Asmir Begovic as quickly as possible.

Although the deal appears to be heading down the right road with a fee of £8 million agreed with Stoke City and with Begovic, apparently, keen to move to Stamford Bridge even though he accepts he`ll start as the under-study to Thibaut Courtois, there is still time for an external intervention.

Our spies are telling us that the deal between Manchester United and Real Madrid has moved a lot closer and that Manchester United need to sign a replacement keeper.

Naturally, in this weird and wonderful world of ours, gossip has turned to Asmir Begovic and the possibility that a late offer from Manchester United may well scupper a move that Chelsea thought was just about signed, sealed and delivered.

Here at Vital Chelsea, we`re expecting the deal to be completed early next week, if not the longer it drags on the more chance there is of it all going wrong!
