Chelsea maintained their decent start to the pre-season with a comfortable win against our Dutch friends, Vitesse Arnhem.

Fielding a strong line-up that once again included the new boys of Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas, it didn`t take Chelsea long to take the lead.

As early as the 4th minute Chelsea breached the Dutch defence and Diego Costa, with the chance to score, chose to lay the ball square for Mohamed Salah to roll the ball into the empty net.

Controlling the game, although giving our hosts a good share of the possession, Chelsea were to double their lead midway through the first half. Costa found himself crudely fouled and from the resulting free-kick Cesc Fabregas curled a delightful free kick into the top corner of the net.

The game was effectively wrapped up when Costa, showing his unselfish streak again, presented Nemanja Matic with a chance to net a rare goal.

Unfortunately, any chances of Chelsea keeping a clean sheet were denied when Uros Djurdjevic scored a last minute consolation goal.

Another useful workout for Chelsea as they prepare for the big kick-off, at Burnley; on Monday 18th August.
