Wednesday Night Was Probably The Final Straw For Out Of Favour Chelsea Striker

|

On Wednesday night, as Chelsea battled to an entertaining 2-2 draw away to Valencia, Frank Lampard had a huge decision to make at half-time.

Lampard had seen his first-choice striker, Tammy Abraham, carried off on a stretcher at half-time after picking up a hip injury, an injury that will see our top-scorer miss the Premier League fixture against West Ham United.

Faced with losing his first-choice striker, Lampard had to choose between introducing Michy Batshuayi or Olivier Giroud.

As it turned out, Frank chose the former.

With the January transfer window almost upon us, that decision could very well be the one that convinces Giroud that now is the time to bring to an end his Chelsea career.

That certainly appears to be the case in the Italian media with Calciomercato, reporting that Inter Milan are the favourites to end the 33-year-olds tenure in London.

Here at Vital Chelsea, we reckon it is a deal that will get done once the two clubs are able to agree a fee and Giroud is able to agree on personal terms.

But is it a move you would approve of?
