What Pompey Think of Us!

In our ongoing series we ask the Portsmouth Vital editor ten pertinent questions.

1. Has your season gone as expected?

Our season has gone like a dodgy rollercoaster that kept going down until a sharp rise, where I was wondering if I would get out alive.

2. What changes would you like to see made?

I would like to see a new stadium at Fratton Park. Lessons on secrecy wouldn’t go a miss either. (That’s coming from a journalist!) I would like to see a striker that scores goals, I know, I know it’s a lot to ask.

3. Do you admire the way Mourinho has managed Chelsea?

José Mourinho has done a very good job at Chelsea considering the tight budget he had to work to. Seriously, he’s a prat but he’s also a good manager and the best that Chelsea could have got. (Because Harry said he wouldn’t leave us again!)

4. Select a mixed Chelsea / Portsmouth XI (Ratio 6:5 or 5:6)

A mixed Chelsea and Portsmouth side… do I have to include Portsmouth players? If not then the whole Chelsea side but if I do then I’ll put Davis and Mendes in and drop Lampard and Ballack.

5. Who would you prefer to sign – Terry or Lampard?

I would prefer to sign Terry because we would then have a defender who knows how to head a ball.

6. Dreams for next season?

Dreams for next season is not to suffer from any form of football related stress and to witness Benjani scoring his second goal for the club.

7. Should Abramovich speak out more or is the silent way the best?

Well your manager does enough bragging for the World let alone Roman. He walked past me at Portsmouth, he had eight body guards around him. Eight! Hey I know Portsmouth is rough but that’s extreme. Quiet gives him that edge of mystery.

8. Is our bad media image a result of being successful?

Your bad media image is worsened by your success but not created by it. If you’re manager wasn’t arrogant and you’re players didn’t dive no one would have a go. Although if you were a conference club doing this no one would give a ****.

9. Facilities – Fratton Park or Stamford Bridge?

Facilities at Fratton or Chelsea….oooh…. well on the plus side we do have toilet roll but then again Chelsea have toilets! I don’t think that should count as a question, we have a budget we need to stick to and if that means twenty thousand people using one toilet, then so be it.

10. Biggest gripe about Chelsea?

I’m so tempted to say the fans to wind everyone up but you have my e-mail address so I won’t. I’m going to go with the stadium. It’s so nice and big and clean, I’m not jealous but it felt like I was going to the theatre. Know what I mean? No! Ok!.

Our thanks got to Les for taking the time out to answer our questions.
