During my time supporting Chelsea I`ve seen some strange things.

I`ve seen Chelsea, playing away at Coventry, turn out in Coventry City`s change kit in order to avoid a clash of kits, but yesterday, at the London Stadium, against West Ham United I saw three things that were almost comical to say the least.

The first was Thibaut Courtois running out to hack the ball into touch and somehow contriving to kick the ball behind for a corner to West Ham United.

The second was when Pedro, in attempting to take a throw-in somehow managed to treat the ball as if it was covered in oil, letting it slip through his hands and then have the audacity to retake the throw when every man and his dog knew it should have been declared a foul throw.

But the third really takes the biscuit.

Now I`ve come to accept that the modern-day footballer has a tendency to wear gloves, thank heavens those snood things were banned, but I`ve never seen a footballer sat on the bench, like Michy Bashuayi was, clutching a hot-water bottle.

Whatever is the game coming to?
