Sometimes a piece of transfer speculation however improbable it might seem, just continues to gather media momentum until it just naturally happens.

Already, early last week, we covered the inference that Willian could be set to leave Chelsea Football Club.

Today (Sunday) that inference is gathering momentum with the news source, Calciomercato implying that Chelsea are getting closer to bringing the Paris Saint-Germain 25-year-old midfielder Lucas Moura to Stamford Bridge.

In doing so our referenced source points out that Willian, who made just 17 starts last season could be moved on to make space in the squad, whilst also balancing the books.

But, whilst in our article early last week we lambasted the thought of the Brazilian going to Manchester United, it is that precise destination that continues to gather momentum.

During Jose Mourinho`s ill-fated last season at Stamford Bridge, it was Willian who was Chelsea`s most impressive performer, something the ‘Special One` obviously recalls.

  • Unfortunately Willian has struggled to perform for quite some time, but if he can?t improve on his weaknesses then it?s time to wave goodbye as long as we get a world class replacement. I don?t have an issue if he goes to Man Utd if we get top dollar for him, a lot has been said about Matic but the reality is he?s been very average and Willian will be the same. It hurts that Salah & De Bryune are scoring goals for fun!! Thanks Mourinho.

  • Much as I appreciate his contribution to the Chelsea cause, he has failed to produce on a consistent basis the form the made Chelsea snatch him from spurs. He can move on.

  • I’d be delighted if we manage to sell United another dud for big money. There’s a lot of Matic propaganda out there but the reality is that he’s been average overall and below average in the big games, so Chelsea are laughing all the way to the bank with the £40m. In terms of Willian, I’ve never been a fan of the guy and believe if he really hated Spurs, he’d have signed for them. I think this is a position which can easily be improved on by moving him on, just not for Lucas Moura who is Willian 2.0.

  • We can let Willian leave and get an upgrade, not a clone in L. Moura. He had the chance to join CFC,but preferred PSG. Now he’s past his sell by date
