Young Chelsea Midfielder Produces Moments Of Class on U21 Debut

|

Yesterday, in Latvia, a Chelsea teenage midfielder showed that, in the coming years, the world really could become his oyster.

At just 19-years-of-age, Mount made his debut for the England U21 side, in a European Championship qualifying tie.

Mount produced a display that showed just why Chelsea rate him so highly.

The teenager showed his array of skills and his incisive passing saw him provide an assist for his Chelsea team-mate, currently on loan at Aston Villa, Tammy Abraham, to level the game up after Latvia had taken the lead.

But, with the game delicately balanced, Mount provided a clinical finish, following a flowing move from the England U21 side, to drill a shot home from the edge of the box to give England a win that leaves them needing just a point to qualify for the finals of the competition.

Mason is currently on a season-long loan with the Championship side, Derby County.

Derby are, of course, managed by Frank Lampard and it’s easy to see why Mount is being compared to the Chelsea legend, so is there a better place for the youngster to continue learning his trade, we think not!
