Zidane Quitting Bodes Well For Hazard Remaining At Stamford Bridge

|

One of the biggest fears held by Chelsea supporters this summer relates to the possibility that Eden Hazard could leave the club.

Hazard, the jewel in the Chelsea crown, has been linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer and the player had, previously, openly admitted he had a desire to play under Zinedine Zidane, somebody he admired immensely as a player.

But, with Zidane’s shock decision to leave Real Madrid reverberating around the football world, one news source is championing the suggestion that Hazard was one of the reasons Zidane decided to quit the Bernabeu.

According to the Evening Standard, Zidane was intent on signing Hazard this summer but his plans didn’t meet with the approval of the Real Madrid hierarchy who, seemingly, are looking to sign David de Gea, a decision Zidane didn’t agree with and promptly quit.

If that is the case, it is great news for Chelsea supporters.

Hazard has already spoken about remaining with Chelsea, with our source reproducing quotes the Belgian recently made, which read,

“I think all of the players and the club want one thing and that’s to win the title. Of course, we will see if we can bring in some new players, it’s part of the job. But we will be focused on winning the title, that’s it.”

Heart-warming stuff.

But, with Chelsea sure to want around the £100 million mark for the player, it is difficult to see where any potential suitor might come from, especially with Eden enjoying life in London and with the chance to play under Zidane now gone.

However, it’d be churlish to rest on our laurels and assume that Hazard will be wearing our blue shirt next season. Once the 2018 World Cup reaches its conclusion Chelsea need to sort out the new deal for Chelsea otherwise the danger remains that the jewel in our crown will be snatched from within our grasp.
