A Blessing in Disguise?

The last summer transfer window is one which the majority of Chelsea supporters will never forget easily.

Chelsea spent most, if not of that transfer window pursuing a certain talented midfielder in the person of Luka Modric. Chelsea put in numerous bids for the Croat the last being a whooping £40 million, the player himself was so keen to join Chelsea that he even handed in a transfer request.

Chelsea`s bid plus the players transfer request wasn’t just enough to convince the Spurs chairman, Daniel Levy, to part with Luka Modric. Most Chelsea fans, including myself, watched and prayed hoping the transfer would happen before the transfer deadline.

To our heavy disappointment it never happened and it seemed our beloved team will have a season to forget as we didn’t have a ‘creative’ midfielder!

As the season commenced a certain little Spaniard filled those boots and created more scoring chances than any other Premier League player. Chelsea went ahead to win the FA Cup and UEFA Champions League.

Now, in the current transfer window, we have wrapped up a deal for another player who can give us what Luka Modric could have offered and even more, he came cheaper and about 6 or 7 years younger than Luka Modric.

There`s no doubt in OSCAR we have a talented younger footballer who can light up the Premier League. For those of us who watched the Brazilian friendly against Team GB it`s obvious it was a £25 million well spent.

I was heartbroken when the Modric transfer didn’t work out but now I’m glad it didn’t! Who knows if we would have gotten Oscar? So I just want to say thank you Mr Levy for holding on to Modric!

We have a Cheaper, more exciting, younger, a more dynamic Modric. OSCAR!
