After Chelsea`s win against Nottingham Forest, manager Antonio Conte has been speaking to the Chelsea FC website about proceedings. Talking about blooding some of the youngsters he said
`We must be pleased with the performance because we won the game and we have to play the next round which is very positive. Tonight I gave the opportunity to some players and the answer was very good. We had the possibility to give the young players from our Academy a chance which is very positive so it`s a good night.`
Charly Musonda Jr made his full first team debut and scored a goal to boot, it was a goal that made him cry. Conte was pleased with his showing,
`I think Charly played very well and he is trying to work a lot to improve physically because the Premier League is very strong in terms of the physical aspect. He`s a talented player and he has to continue in this way and when there is the opportunity to help us he must do this.`
Ethan Ampadu became Chelsea`s first player to have been born in the 2000`s. He coped well, considering he`s just seventeen and only signed a professional contract this week. Conte`s thoughts were,
`He`s another youngster who has the potential to become a good player but he must continue to work with humility and improve. We must be pleased tonight because we saw a lot of our young players in this game.`
Conte spoke, diplomatically about our opponents in the fourth round, Everton,
‘It`s a tough game, we know Everton are one of the best teams in this league but we are ready to face the next round. We are a great club so every competition is important to us. We have to be competitive in every game and if the players answer like they did tonight I will continue to give opportunities. We must go game by game but when I have this type of answer I`m very happy.`
Finally a quick mention for David Luiz following reports that he has suffered a broken wrist when he collided with the advertising hoardings in the Arsenal game.
‘He is an important player for us, I know what happened at the end of the first half (on Sunday) but he will be ready for the game against Atletico Madrid.`
Next up for Chelsea, is a visit to the Bet365 Stadium where Stoke City are our opponents.
