As Expected, Alonso Gets a 3-Game Ban

|

When you are charged by the Football Association, it is almost inevitable that you will be found guilty.

Very rarely do players contest any charge levelled at them and come away with a smile on their faces.

After his x-rated challenge, on Saturday against Southampton, a challenge that Mike Dean apparently missed, despite being a matter of yards away, Marcos Alonso was hauled up in front of the Football Association on a violent-conduct charge.

Alonso subsequently denied the charge and suggested a three-game suspension would be excessive.

However, those who come to such decisions were having none of it and Alonso was subsequently handed the obligatory three-game ban.

As a result, the Spanish defender will miss the fixture at Burnley this evening as well as the FA Cup semi-final, against Southampton this Sunday, the third game of the ban will see Alonso also miss the Premier League trip to take on Swansea City.

There’s still no word as to what action Mike Dean will face for missing the incident!
