Called into action after Thibaut Courtois picked up an ankle injury filming a basketball commercial of all things, it wasn`t the result Asmir Begovic was hoping for against Manchester United.
Although, overall, Manchester United outplayed Chelsea, Begovic didn`t have that much to do except pick out of the net the early goal from Marcus Rashford and the deflected shot from Ander Herrera.
But, stood behind his ten fellow team-mates Begovic would have noticed that the team wasn`t its usual self.
After the game Asmir had a few words for the media, remarking,
‘I think the defeat is down to a combination of things. United were more aggressive, they won second balls and probably wanted it more.
‘They got a great start and then went on from there. We need to be better going forward.
‘We have a lot of match-winners, it was not just a case of Eden Hazard being man marked and taken out the game. We weren’t at it today but we have a lot of character and can bounce back.
‘We have a four-point advantage and at the start of the season we would have taken it at this stage.
‘If win our games it doesn’t matter what Spurs do.’
The gap may be four points and the number of games left receding but it doesn`t seem that long ago Chelsea were ten points clear does it?
