Sad news reached us this morning that Bobby Campbell has passed away.
Aged 78, Bobby will always have a place in Chelsea`s history having orchestrated our Division Two title win, back in 1988 / 1989, to take Chelsea back into the top-flight, a position they`ve occupied ever since.
Campbell was in charge of Chelsea from 1988 to 1991 and after leaving the managerial role worked as Ken Bates` assistant.
When Ken Bates sold Chelsea Football Club, lock, stock and barrel to Roman Abramovich, Campbell became a trusted advisor to our new owner and could often be seen sat next to Roman in the West Stand.
Our thoughts are with his family.
RIP – Bobby Campbell.
