After the internet was alive with rumours relating to a Chelsea deal for Edinson Cavani, over the weekend, it all appears to have gone relatively quiet.
However, yesterday, quotes appeared relating to Cavani being enthusiastic about a move to the Premier League with the player, reportedly, having commented,
“I don`t know if the arrival of Rafa Benitez will condition my future. I`ve a contract with Napoli but I am listening to other teams.”
“The Special One? It would be a pleasure to work with him.”
“I don`t know if Chelsea have made an offer but I know the work of Mourinho and others like Pellegrini, for example, and it would be a pleasure to be coached by them one day.”
However, matters could be about to get complicated with it now being reported that Real Madrid are stepping up their interest and may be prepared to meet the £53 million buy-out clause.
This one could, we believe, come to a swift conclusion very shortly, but where will Cavani end up?
