Something interesting cropped up this morning whilst scanning through the newspapers!
It relates to our friend Edinson Cavani and that much talked about buy-out clause in his contract.
Apparently, the £54 million buy out clause expires on August 10th, after which he could be purchased for a lot less.
Naturally the Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is spouting on about Cavani being a gentleman and not duping the club, remarking to the media,
“I don`t think Cavani will leave on August 10.”
“I`m confident in him because I consider him a real man. He won`t make a joke of me.”
“Should Cavani want to leave, he will decide it after a long period of reflection..”
“But by July 20 we will probably know everything.”
Personally I wouldn`t bet on it and if Chelsea are clock-watching, with a view to landing Cavano sometime between August 10th and the closure of the transfer deadline, it could be one hell of a smart move!
