The first of two Premier League title winning parties took place at Stamford Bridge last night.

After wrapping up the 2016 / 2017 title, at the Hawthorns, on Friday night, the Stamford Bridge faithful were in party-mood last night as Chelsea took on Watford in their penultimate Premier League fixture of the season.

For this fixture, Antonio Conte chose to make nine changes to his starting eleven with only Hazard and Azpilicueta remaining from the eleven that started against West Brom.

Amongst those awarded starts were Michy Batshuayi, who secured the title for Chelsea with his late goal, Kenedy, Chalobah and the soon to be leaving John Terry.

After an ill-tempered start to the game, which saw two Watford players yellow-carded early on, Chelsea were to take the lead in the twenty-second minute and it was to be that man, John Terry, who was to score, with the veteran defender finishing off from close range.

However, Terry went from hero to villain in the space of a minute or so, gifting Watford an equaliser after he got into a mix-up with Chalobah to head the ball straight into the path of Capoue who gratefully headed the ball home past Begovic.

Thankfully, Chelsea did regain the lead before half-time when Azpilicueta scored his first goal of the season with a wonderful low drive, from outside the area, into the bottom corner, thereby restoring the party-mood inside Stamford Bridge.

The second half saw Chelsea edge further ahead when Batshuayi made it two goals in two games with another finish from close-range. At 3-1 the game appeared to be won.

But Watford came fighting back and narrowed the deficit when Daryl Janmaat went on a mazy dribbling run to score with a fine finish past Begovic and then the visitors pulled it back to 3-3 when Stefano Okaka, on as a substitute, scored with another fine finish.

The two Watford goals looked as if they were going to spoil the party, but Cesc Fabregas, on as a substitute, had other ideas, drilling in a low shot, three minutes from time, to give Chelsea their twenty-ninth win of the season.

Cue fireworks and glittering streamers as Chelsea celebrated, but the real party will be on Sunday when John Terry will receive the Premier League trophy, bring it on.
