Chelsea FC have officially signed Cesc Fabregas from FC Barcelona this afternoon for a fee rumoured to be around £30 million. The ex Arsenal captain has finally acted after persistent rumours surrounding his future.
The 27 year old attacking midfielder will link up with the club after he plays for his native Spain in the 2014 World Cup.
He’s no stranger to the Premier League, having enjoyed 8 seasons at North London rivals, Arsenal. He moved back to his boyhood club, FC Barcelona, in the summer of 2011.
Fabregas had this to say on his arrival at Chelsea- Firstly I would like to thank everyone at FC Barcelona where I enjoyed three wonderful years. It was my childhood club and I will always be proud and honoured that I had a chance to play for such a great team.
‘I do feel that I have unfinished business in the Premier League and now is the right time to return.
‘I considered all the other offers very carefully and I firmly believe that Chelsea is the best choice. They match my footballing ambitions with their hunger and desire to win trophies. They have an amazing squad of players and an incredible manager. I am fully committed to this team and I can’t wait to start playing.’
Fabregas will wear the number 4 for Chelsea.
