Surfing through our wonderful football news provider, newsnow.co.uk, I found a very interesting article amongst all the tabloid rubbish we usually have to put up with.
FourFourTwo, the famous football magazine and website, have announced the Football Rich List today. By all means visit the site for the full list, I’ve detailed some of the highlights below.
QPR’s investor Lakshmi Mittal tops the list with a staggering £18.4bn pounds. He’s over a billion pounds wealthier than the runner-up Sheikh Mansour of Man City – £17bn.
Although the figures are alarming for the two front-runners, an interesting fact has popped up as we look at 3rd place finisher Roman Abramovich.
If the stories are true, and whenever Ambramovich is involved they are usually wrong, then he has pumped £600 million into Chelsea Football Club since 2003. This is an amount that most of us are familiar with, we’ve had numerous jealous fans from other clubs quoting the ridiculous amounts spent so far. The interesting part comes when we look at his profits this year alone.
With the club agreeing that the millions must be repaid sooner rather than later and the objective of being financially independant at the top of all our plans, a lot of fans have been worried that RA will depart the club if his loan is not repaid soon. The economic downfall was a major contributor to that worry.
In the last 9 months, however, RA has added £800million to his current fortune despite all the rumours of departure and poverty.
So fear not, Chelsea fans, we will repay him one day. Until then, however, its just pocket money to him!
