One piece of transfer tittle-tattle doing the rounds relates to the outstanding young German midfielder Leon Goretzka.

The 22-year-old, currently on the books of the Bundesliga side, Schalke, is out of contract at the end of the season and could very well be available on a free transfer.

Goretzka`s displays in the Bundesliga and also on the international scene have ear-marked him as a star of the future.

However, with someone with such a good reputation possibly coming on to the market, it`s probably no surprise that there are several leading clubs linked with his acquisition.

According to the popular red-top publication, Mirror, in this country alone the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City are interested in the player.

Casting the net a little wider, it`s also suggested that Bayern Munich, Juventus and Barcelona are monitoring the situation.

If Goretzka does indeed decide to sever his links with Schalke then with no transfer fee involved any deal will come down to a signing-on fee, a huge salary and where the player would most like to pursue his career.

The chase could prove to be very interesting!
