Or my dreams of things Chelsea this year, and some other – apart from the obvious trophy expectations. (in no special order)
? I do hope to see Gael Kakuta make his first team debut in the Carling Cup. As I hope to see Mancienne, Hutchinson, Sturridge, Turnbull and others start in Carling Cup games. I really think we need to encourage the youngsters in this cup and then a possible early exit would at least feel justified unlike the Burnley debacle that started the decline last season.
? I do hope to see us start another good run at home, the record we have set will probably be way out of target, but undefeated at home will make us feel very good and place us in the driving seat for the title. The first big challenge is of course Liverpool. But we can not relax against any team, not even Hull on Saturday.
? I do want to see Carlo having a plan B as we called it last season, whether it is another numbers formation. I think we will, if the Community Shield is a reference as he solved the problems the team had in first half and we dominated the second part of the game.
? I do hope that the late goal in the Shield was our only late, overtime goal conceded this season. Focus lads.
? I want Petr Cech to recover his record without conceding any goals. I do not feel that van der Sar deserved that last season, his defence did though.
? Unlike the press, I do not care about pretty footie, I like winning football much more than joga bonito. If we have to chose. And I think we could play the most joga bonito in the world, no one will ever give us credit anyway so why bother? We have been one of the teams that have scored the most goals in Europe the last five years, have any one credited us for that?!
? I do hope to see competent refereeing and apart from the offside, which was hard called I think (a replay decision so to speak). I think Chris Foy did most things right Sunday. But we yet have to watch Mike Riley.
? I do hope cheaters like Patrice Evra gets to pay for their cheating this season.
? I do hope to see Tom Henning Øvrebø being promoted to crossing guard on the Norwegian country side, for reindeer crossings up in Tromsø. The only official function I think he is qualified for. (Or maybe for the cods and herring in the Oslo fjord).
? I do hope to see UEFA being fair in their dealings with Chelsea. Yes, I know, but I am dreaming here.
? I do hope not to draw Liverpool in the play offs in the Champions League. Not because I think they will beat us but because I am really tired of that match up. Unless they make it to the final, let us have a rest of this.
? I do so want to see Dani Alves humiliated in a possible final in the Champions League by Zhirkov or Malouda. That also means I hope that we will not draw Barcelona before the final as with UEFA on our back I wonder if we can ever be treated fairly in a two game match up against their favourite winner. And a win in 90 minutes of course as otherwise no one will give us credit for winning. They probably still wont.
? I do hope to see Real Madrid end up no better than third in La Liga, proving to Flo-P that buying attackers is not football, it is about selling shirts.
? I do hope all our loaned-out youngsters have great experiences and develop. They might have to wait another year most of them to fully challenge for a first XI-spot but so many coming players have the talent, now is time to show even more important things like character, will and ability.
? I do hope that Carlo resists sir red nose`s invitations to join in with his mind games. That will surely annoy him something fiercely. We do need a bit of calm on the managerial front. Though needling Tubby Benitez is fun in another way as he hardly can defend himself in these games.
? I do hope, and expect, a Chelsea player to win the Golden Boot again.
? I hope to see someone take that fourth spot away from Arsenal, showing Wenger that his principles might be nice but not practical and surely not winning.
? I do hope not to see any managerial changes at the Bridge, but if a Scolari situation should (cross my fingers not to) occur again I will not challenge the board`s decision. Still, I really like what Carletto has done so far. (It is just that I felt the same about Scolari this time last season?)
? I do hope to meet more of the reasonable fans of the red teams. There are some around, but most of them?.ouch. (I am including Spurs and West Ham as red teams here). It is a tough wish from what we already have seen from the Manure fans especially at Republik of Mancunia (sounds like a dragon and dungeons thing for the really small kids). Even OLASAL is having red feelings, probably caught something when he had to wear a pool-shirt at his stag party! It is treatable though OLASAL, I promise.
? I do hope England finds a decent (yet unknown) goalkeeper so I can root for them in the World Cup despite all and get something back for it.
? I have already seen Chelsea finally win a penalty shoot out, (something I have longed for such a long time) and in what a way. Four great penalties and I bet Deco would have put his away had he been allowed to take the fourth (but obviously he was placed fifth on the list so Foy sent him away). And Cech almost saved all of United`s pens, and they have been awesome in penalty shoot outs the last couple of seasons.
