Chelsea Tipped To Sign Midfielder On A Permanent Basis In The Summer

|

Back in the summer, ahead of the start of the 2018 / 2019 season, Chelsea pulled off something of a coup, or did they?

Looking to improve the squad, after failing to qualify for the Champions League, the previous season, the club managed to acquire the services of Mateo Kovacic.

The 24-year-old Croatian midfielder, on the books of Real Madrid, was brought to the club on a season-long loan.

As we approach the halfway point in the Premier League season, speculation has emerged, courtesy of the Spanish news source: AS, that the player, come to the end of the season, will not be returning to the Bernabeu.

Instead, it is being reported that Chelsea will look to make the deal a permanent one, although our referenced source also suggests Tottenham Hotspur could rival us for his services.

Kovacic once tipped as the next great midfielder to emerge in the game, had somewhat lost his way at Real Madrid. It was hoped that moving to Chelsea would reinvigorate the player and that he would rediscover his mojo.

But, has that been the case?

I’d suggest not, although he can be relied upon to give a competent display, he’s never really dominated a game and doesn’t look like doing so.

Personally, once the loan agreement is up, I’d let him return to La Liga, but is that a view you agree with?

Please feel free to take part in our poll below and we’ll see exactly how the Vital Chelsea fraternity view the Croatian:
