As the transfer window drags on, Chelsea have, according to media speculation, stepped up their chase for Arsenal`s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. A £25m bid is set to be tabled by the club as they look to bolster their wing-back options.

The 23 year old would certainly be a welcome addition to Antonio Conte`s diminishing Chelsea squad. The Daily Star run the article amongst others.

There seems very little in the piece to suggest a move is imminent though.

It may be a possible that with less than a year left on his contract the ‘Ox` wants to leave the Gunners. A month ago The Sun claimed he had tried to get assurances over playing time, the article cites Sky Sports as saying the chances of a new deal being signed were “virtually zero”.

The big question is, would Wenger allow the England International to move across London? The Daily Star article claims Wenger has insisted the ‘Ox` will “100%” be staying put. Our rivals don`t seem keen to do business with us, in the same way we allow our players to go to them.

Why Arsenal would simply allow such a young player’s contract to run down, so he can leave for ‘free` is beyond comprehension. Whilst the Arsenal manager may think it`s an ideal scenario, the directors at the club, must be shaking their heads.

Chelsea`s transfer committee should go all out to get Oxlade-Chamberlain. He would be a great option as wing-back and by joining a depleted squad, he will see plenty of game time. Personally though, I don`t see Wenger letting him go to Chelsea.
