Chelsea`s win over Hull City takes Chelsea into the quarter finals for 7th time in 10 years. The draw for the next round takes place this evening at 8pm following Manchester United`s game against Huddersfield Town.

Prior to the game we ran our usual series of polls. Starting with who we expected to win the game. As ever our partisism meant that the majority of us believed victory would ensue. 96% voted for the Chelsea victory that two goals for Willian, a debut goal for Olivier Giroud and a neat Pedro finish brought about.

Just 4% of non-believers or more likely non Chelsea fans thought Hull would win.

Once the teams had been announced, we had another go at running a new poll aimed a naming the player we thought would score the first goal. The poll was set to run until that first goal came.

We gave you the choice of the ten starting outfield players along with the possibility of Chelsea not actually scoring. Six players featured in the voting. The player we thought most likely to score, and gaining 50% of the votes was Olivier Giroud. The Frenchman did score, but it was the final goal of the four.

Four players drew 12% of votes. Danny Drinkwater, Willian, Emerson and Pedro. The final player deemed to have a chance of scoring was Antonio Rudiger with a 2% vote.

As it turned out, the poll didn`t run for very long once the game had started. Willian had Chelsea in front with just 1 min 56 seconds gone. 12% picked correctly.

With that poll done and dusted the MOTM poll went up. The eleven players on the field immediately were available for votes, with the substitutes being added as and when they appeared. The result of that poll will follow.
