With the news breaking, yesterday, Gary Cahill had been hospitalised with what turned out to be a bout of gastroenteritis, speculation was rife as to who would take his place at the heart of the defence.

Many suspected that it could be a golden opportunity for John Terry to pay an emotional farewell at Wembley, what with Chelsea and Terry parting company at the end of the season.

However, it seems that Antonio Conte has different ideas.

At his pre-match press conference Antonio confirmed the Cahill situation and stated that it will be Nathan Ake who will play in the back three alongside David Luiz and Cesar Azpilicueta.

Talking about his decision, Antonio had this to say,

“Ake thinks he deserves this chance to play because he is showing me a great commitment. He`s worked hard and his behaviour was great.

“And don`t forget Ake was playing every game with Bournemouth.

“He wanted to come and stay with us to help fight for the title.

“He`s ready to have this opportunity, this chance.

“I trust him and I have no problem taking this decision.”

Is it a bold move, a brave move and the correct decision?
