Hopefully in just over two days, we, at Vital Chelsea will never have to type the name Diego Costa again. Of course, that`s not to say he`s not been good value in journalistic terms. Two Premier League titles in two years speaks volumes as well, although you could argue the second one was achieved in spite of him rather than because of him.

The transfer window wouldn`t be the same without the daily Diego Costa update, so here it is. The Evening Standard are reporting that Atletico Madrid have upped their bid for the Brazilian, who chose to play for Spain.

Madrid are thought to have had the temerity of offering £26m for Costa earlier in the window. In a market that is awash with cash, it`s peanuts. Chelsea are looking for an offer in the region of £50m. The Standard report an offer of £41m is now on the table.

Costa who has been AWOL in his homeland for the best part of six weeks, is also believed to have interested French club Monaco and Marseille.

With Madrid unable to sign players until January a period on loan may be on the cards. Whilst a loan move to Everton may be unlikely and would certainly leave a sour taste in the mouth as far as Chelsea fans are concerned, some claim it may be of benefit.

It`s true Costa could repay the Chelsea faithful by taking points off some of our title rivals, which would be nice. However Chelsea go to Everton on 23rd December, which could see Costa extract some revenge of his own against Antonio Conte.

In short, don`t expect Diego Costa to turn up Everton anytime soon.
