Chelsea are expected to announce the £7million signing of Demba Ba this morning after the player went through a stringent medical at Stamford Bridge last night.
Ba, 27, has reportedly agreed a £75,000-a-week contract to June 2016, but Chelsea are taking no chances after Ba failed a medical on his right knee at Stoke two years ago. Therefore, they’re waiting for the final nod off approval from club medics who have run additional tests on his knee.
Ba has to be be signed by midday today to be eligible for tomorrow`s FA Cup third-round tie.
In anticipation of the move going ahead as everyone expects, Benitez has already moved a training session back to lunchtime to give Ba time to join in.
Torres is in need of a rest after starting 31 games already this season, so Ba could be thrown straight into action with a big opportunity to impress from the word go.
