The big question Chelsea fans around the world are asking ahead of Sunday`s game against Manchester United is?.will N`golo Kante play alongside Danny Drinkwater for the first time at Chelsea.

The weird thing is, the last time the two played together, in anger, was against Chelsea on the final day of the 2015-16 season that went so badly wrong for Chelsea and so surprisingly right for Leicester. The game ended 1-1 and the Leicester goal was scored by Drinkwater.

The two of them only had one season together and it was the season that Leicester confounded the bookmakers by winning the Premier League. At the start of the campaign they were famously given a 5000/1 chance of winning.

Of the 29 games that the two midfielders started together, 18 resulted in wins, 9 were draws and they suffered just 2 defeats. Both losses came against Arsenal.

Should Kante return, it will like welcoming two players back into the team, such is the ground he can cover. Obviously, given the fact that he`ll be short of match practice, he may be only at the one and a half players stage against United.

If the Drinkwater and Kante combo can perform to the standard achieved at Leicester, Chelsea’s midfield will jump a notch to where it`s been in recent weeks. The Tiemoue Bakayoko and Cesc Fabregas combo has not hit the heights at all. With Bakayoko still struggling for full match fitness and Fabregas lacking the legs of the little Frenchman, the centre of midfield has been left wanting.

With a firm kick up the backside from Antonio Conte still stinging, Drinkwater and Kante could give the starting XI a much needed boost as Jose Mourinho looks to inflict more pain on Conte.
