Dutch Youngster Set To Attempt To Try And Buck The Trend

|

The search for the young talent that can serve Chelsea Football Club in the future, has seen the name of a talented young Dutch defender linked with the club.

The news source, football london, are reporting that a deal for the PSV Eindhoven defender, Ian Maatsen, is all but done.

Maatsen, just 16-years-of-age, has agreed to move to Chelsea and our referenced source is inferring that there are just a few loose ends to tie up before the deal is completed.

The Dutch youngster will, upon joining, link up with the U18 squad as he looks to emulate another Dutch youngster who also joined Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven at the age of sixteen, Nathan Ake.

Maatsen is a versatile player who can play as a centre-back, a left-back or in midfield.

However, like so many who have trodden the same path, it remains to be seen if Maatsen is capable of coming through the ranks to, finally, establish himself as a regular member of the Chelsea first team squad, in years to come.

But, it’d be churlish not to wish him all the best as he attempts to buck a trend set over many a year.
