After rumours surfaced that several clubs are looking to sign Eidur Gudjohnsen, we here at Vital thought we’d investigate.

And what better place to start than in Eidur’s home country, Iceland. Through our contacts in this fine country we were able to establish the following:

1. Talks have been going on between Eidur’s father, Arnór Guðjohnsen, who also happens to be his agent, and Peter Kenyon!

These talks were, according to our source, inconclusive.

2. A move away from Chelsea is not a certainty!

Eidur himself has told a leading Icelandic paper, Morgunblaðið that it’s by no means certain that he will leave Chelsea.

3. A move back to the northwest isn’t a preferred move!

A reliable Icelandic source has informed us that after his Bolton experience, Eidur doesn’t fancy a move to the northwest, both because of the weather and lack of social attractiveness.

4. Benitez is admired by Gudjohnsen

Another source has also told us that Eidur is more impressed with the work Rafael Benitez has done at Liverpool than that of Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.

Clearly, this story has the potential to be one of the main domestic stories of this summer. We here at Vital will endeavour, thanks to our links with Iceland, keep you informed.
