FA Cup Semi-Final – Chelsea v Southampton – Early Team News

|

On Sunday afternoon Chelsea will be making their third visit of the season to Wembley.

The occasion being an FA Cup semi-final against Southampton, with the winners set to meet the winners of Saturday’s semi-final between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

The FA Cup is the only piece of silverware Chelsea can win this season and would provide a crumb of comfort after our poor defence of the Premier League title.

Ahead of the tie, we’ve cobbled together some early team-news.

Starting with Chelsea:

Against Burnley, on Thursday evening, Antonio Conte shuffled his starting eleven, both Eden Hazard and Willian were on the bench, here at Vital Chelsea we expect both to be named in the starting eleven.

Out suspended is Marcos Alonso, with the Spanish wing-back serving the second game of a three-game ban imposed, by the Football Association, for his wild tackle on Shane Long, in the Premier League fixture against Southampton last weekend.

Unavailable through injury are the duo of David Luiz and Ethan Ampadu with knee and ankle injures respectively.

Continuing with Southampton:

The duo of Sofiane Boufal and Mario Lemina both missed Southampton’s 0-0 draw, away to Leicester City in midweek, Mark Hughes will be hopeful that both will be fit enough for selection.

Out suspended is the defender Jack Stephens who will be serving the final game of a three-game suspension.
