With Chelsea being linked with bringing in a new striker, the club seems to be linked with every, Andy, Peter and Edin.

I guess it is the nature of the game at this crazy time of the year, a period we call the silly season.

However, do we really need to bring in a striker, especially one of the taller variety?

One very prominent member of our squad, Eden Hazard, has come out to suggest we don`t.

Hazard, who was in sublime form in the demolition of Brighton and Hove Albion at the weekend, is being quoted by the media as having remarked about the situation,

‘I think we’re happy with the team we have. It depends how you want to play.

‘We have two very good strikers in Alvaro and Michy. If they are not ready to play I can play striker, so I don’t think we need another one.

‘Football is simple – keep the ball on the ground and try to play like we did against Brighton.

‘Because we are missing chances people are saying we need another striker, but if we are scoring goals, we are the best attack in the league and no-one can say we need a striker.’

Some good points made there by Eden, but the Belgian had more to say, further adding,

‘Who is the best team this year? Manchester City. The strikers, Jesus and Aguero, are not big.

‘It’s simple. If you want to play with long balls you need a target man, if you want to keep the ball on the floor you need a small guy.’

Is Eden correct?

Should we stick with what we`ve got or would bringing in a tall striker give Chelsea another option?
