Eden Hazard has been busy talking to the media following the weekends game against Brighton. As we reported earlier, the Belgian discussed whether Chelsea needed to go into the transfer market to purchase a new striker.

He also spoke about some recent comments his father, Thierry, made concerning his son`s future. It`s been well documented that Zinedine Zidane, is a big fan of Hazard`s, and someone he`d very much like to take to the Bernabeu.

Those in the media who delight in seeing Chelsea FC in chaos, like nothing better than to stir up a story or two about Hazard`s imminent departure to Madrid. Hazard senior hasn`t helped the situation. Speaking in The Evening Standard, junior has had his right to reply, with a smile on his face he said

`My dad says some bad things. [Is he in trouble?] Yeah. I talked with him, no worries. I’m focused with Chelsea. I’ve got two years contract left and I’m happy here. Like I said 10 times before, I want to finish this season and then we’ll see. But I’m happy here.`

Maybe he was just treating his dad`s comments as a joke, but it`s still good to hear him refute what Thierry said. Hazard, who saw a sparkling return to goal scoring form against Brighton also spoke about Antonio Conte`s tendency to substitute him early on in certain games.

`When I’m on the pitch I try to give my best. When I’m not on the pitch – on the bench – I want the team to do the best. That’s it. Is it harder physically after missing pre-season? Yes, but I think it’s normal when you miss two months of pre-season with an injury.`

We all know Hazard is a world class player, and one the club would definitely do well to keep hold of. If he sees out the season, and assuming the club still have an ambition to win things, rather become a selling club, like Arsenal, he can look forward to a hefty pay rise.
