When Chelsea showed a desire to bring the, then, Birmingham City young keeper Jack Butland to Stamford Bridge, we suffered a rebuke.
You see Butland, quite rightly in his opinion, didn`t feel that he`d get enough first team football to aid his development with Petr Cech at the club.
Therefore, Butland chose to move to Stoke City, probably assuming, like the rest of us, he`d be the Stoke City #1 with Asmir Begovic moving to either Manchester United or Liverpool this summer.
However, those two moves do not look as if they are going to materialize with Liverpool signing Simon Mignolet and United giving a vote of confidence to David de Gea.
It now appears that Butland, in order to get that regular first team football, will be shipped off to Spain to ensure that his chances of going to the 2014 World Cup, in Brazil, are not affected.
I wonder if he now wishes he had off taken the option of the Chelsea move!
Like I said, isn`t life strange!
