Some interesting news broke today!

An old favourite of mine has landed his first major coaching role.

Following in the footsteps of several other former Chelsea layers from the era he was involved in, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has been appointed as first team coach at Nottingham Forest.

Jimmy, who scored 88 goals during his stay at Stamford Bridge, many of them spectacular, will be working under Steve McClaren.

Apparently the pair have worked before with Jimmy assisting McClaren when he was in charge at FC Twente.

During his Chelsea days, Hasselbaink was on of those who didn`t appreciate the loose ball and that manic stare he gave his team-mates when a pass to him went a foot or so astray will live long in the memory.

As will that epic hat-trick he scored against Spurs back in March 2002, a hat trick you can view by sticking the following url in your browser

Unfortunately, I`m not allowed to insert Premier League clips into articles.

Some would call it, quite rightly, the best Premier League hat-trick they’ve ever seen!

Good luck Jimmy from all at Vital Chelsea.
