After looking to be indestructible throughout the Premiership season, our own Captain Fantastic appears to be picking up a few knocks lately.

First we had to witness John struggle through the last home game of the season, courtesy of a rash challenge form Wayne Rooney, then we had to watch him limp off, as a precautionary measure, in the friendly against Jamaica.

Now it seems that John encountered more trouble at the England training camp. Reports in the tabloids today suggest that John was caught, from behind, by the very person who he used to travel onto training with, Wayne Bridge.

After spending a nerve-wracking few minutes on the floor contemplating what had happened, John was able to get to his feet and gingerly continue. Unconfirmed reports suggest that a nervous Wayne kept his distance for the remainder of the training session.

Thankfully, John is reported as not being troubled by his latest brush with injury and is almost certain, barring mishaps, to start against Paraguay on Saturday.

As we all know the first game in the group tends to be the most nerve-wracking of affairs with a degree of tenseness about it not normally associated with opening fixture sin other competitions.

England know that a win against Paraguay, followed by a victory over Trinidad and Tobago will secure a place in the knockout stages. Therefore, the news that John`s latest mishap isn`t likely to see him not make the team will allow many England supporter`s to rest easier between now and Saturday.

After enjoying such a marvellous spell with Chelsea it would`ve been heart-wrenching if John were to miss out on such a wonderful occasion after becoming the rock upon which Chelsea and England have both built their defences.

We`re with you all the way JT.
