Wembley beckons for Chelsea Football Club this afternoon.

To be more precise, it`s an FA Cup semi-final against our London rivals Tottenham Hotspur with the winners set to take on either Manchester City or Arsenal who contest the second semi-final, on Sunday afternoon.

Of the two sides, it is Spurs who are on the run of better form, with the side from N17 having won their last eight consecutive games, whilst Chelsea have lost two out of their last four.

But we`d like to think form goes out of the window when it comes to the FA Cup!

Both sides will be believing that a win on Saturday afternoon would give them a chance of a unique League and FA Cup double, something both sides have done before, although in Spurs case footage can only be seen on Pathe News!

Recent games between the two sides have been a little feisty, the Premier League fixture between the two sides back in the 2015 / 2016 season became known as the ‘Battle of the Bridge` on a night when Chelsea came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2, a result that saw Leicester take the title.

That result rankled Spurs, after playing below their best for the majority of the season, the desire to see Spurs prevented from winning the title saw Chelsea rise to the challenge and produce their best performance of the season.

The meeting at Wembley could prove to be both interesting and feisty.

Here at Vital Chelsea we`re, as you`d expect for such a big game, running our regular Match Day Moments feature whereby we encourage you to leave your opinions on a variety of subjects including, but not limited to,

1 – The build-up to the big game.

2 – The starting eleven selected by Antonio Conte.

3 – The action as it happens at Wembley.

4 – Your thoughts in the immediate aftermath of the final whistle.

  • I got a question guys, with Cahill may be unavailable who will captain the team? My guess is the most senior player amongst them, then who is he? Could ‘ve been Luiz straight if he didn’t leave to PSG, so I think it will be Hazard. He signed before Marin, Oscar & Azpilicueta in 2012. Who do you think is a better fit?

  • Now i can see why Conte wanted to buy Llorente in the January window. He is an aerial beast, I think he scores more headers 1-Nil Swansea.

  • Early reports that Hazard and Costa are being rested for Tuesday, actual Conte tactic in Italy, throw away cups to win the league . Given the form of Costa and no decent back up, its an uphill battle to win both for us anyway .

  • Chelsea XI: Courtois; Azpilicueta, David Luiz, Ake; Moses, Kante, Matic, Alonso; Willian, Batshuayi, Pedro

Tottenham XI: Lloris, Trippier, Dier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Wanyama, Dembele, Son, Eriksen, Dele, Kane

  • Courtois; Azpilicueta (c), David Luiz, Ake; Moses, Kante, Matic, Alonso; Willian, Batshuayi, Pedro.

  • Is Hazard carrying a knock or is he being spared the kicking the Spurs defence would inevitably give him and force him out of the title run-in?

  • Dean Saunders

Ex-Liverpool and Wales striker on Final Score

Dean Saunders sums it up(even though I despise him for that tackle on Paul Elliott)…….

What do we think the Tottenham defenders are thinking, learning Diego Costa and Eden Hazard are on the bench? They’ll be absolutely delighted. I cannot believe they are not starting.

  • Our starting team today is: Courtois; Azpilicueta (c), David Luiz, Ake; Moses, Kante, Matic, Alonso; Willian, Batshuayi, Pedro.

  • Well we’ve all called for Costa to be dropped, Batman it’s over to you my friend to prove us right!

  • I dont see much wrong with this. Conte is clearly giving the league the priority, and rightly so. Also if we are so scared to lose one player and are that dependent on him (Hazard)…. Well then something needs to be done about that. Hope our board and *****tenalo see that.

Spurs have been backed in to clear 11/8 favouritism at Sky Bet in light of the team news, with neither Eden Hazard nor Diego Costa starting for Chelsea who are now out to 11/5 to win in 90 minutes. Tottenham now 4/6 to reach the final, with Chelsea out to 6/5.

  • All hail Don Antonio! PRECISELY what I hoped he’d do. Mickey Mouse cups are ten a penny. League is everything.

  • If he is resting them for Tuesday then we better win Tuesday or this would have been a waste of time, let’s hope we get a result today the team is still capable
