Michy Batshuayi’s participation in the summer’s World Cup is in doubt after he was carried off during Borussia Dortmund’s 2-0 defeat to Schalke 04 this afternoon.

The Belgium international went on loan to the German outfit in January, after failing to impress Antonio Conte. Since arriving in the Bundesliga, the Batman has scored 9 goals in 13 appearances across all competitions.

According to reports in the Sun, Batshuayi has suffered some kind of ankle injury, the result of a tackle from behind by Schalke’s Benjamin Stambouli. The Belgian immediately signalled for help as did a couple of the opposition players.

Let’s hope the injury is not as serious as feared. Batshuayi left the field on a stretcher, clearly in some pain.

Quite why Antonio Conte never rated the Batman is not really understood, he clearly saw something that a lot of Chelsea fans didn’t. He was a likeable guy and the hope he returns to Stamford Bridge a better player and next season he has a successful run under whoever is in the hot seat.

Get better soon Batman.
