Glimpsing through the plethora of news articles relating to the possible acquisition of a new striker, three names remain the centre of attention this morning.

The first, as you could probably guess, remains that of Edinson Cavani with it being reported that Napoli have turned down a Chelsea offer of ?50 million, plus Fernando Torres, for the Uruguayan striker who enhanced his reputation with a brace of goals in the recent Confederations Cup 3rd and 4th place play-off.

The second is the lesser known Stephan El Shaarawy, with it being mentioned, in some news sources, that Chelsea are looking at offering AC Milan £30 million for the 20 year-old striker whilst also including Torres in any deal.

Lastly, one news source is indicating that Chelsea are ready with an opening gambit of £20 million to try and lure Wayne Rooney to Stamford Bridge with his Old Trafford future shrouded in mystery.

No doubt, come tomorrow, the name of some other striker (or possibly two) will be added to an ever-growing list.
